Tony and Aaron take Enid News and Eagle Lifestyles Editor Tippy Rasp snake hunting. Apart from the story which appeared in Sunday’s (04/27/08) newspaper they also recorded this video interview.
Unlike “the good old days” you don’t have to worry about catching or handling snakes with your bare hands, forked sticks or brake rods.
One of the best things that ever came out of the Okeene rattlesnake hunt was the invention of snake tongs. The Diamondback club has one of the first Whitco tongs made and Anthony Felder and some other members did some of the initial testing of this well known brand.
If you talk to people about what tongs you should use you’ll get a variety of answers. Like most things it comes down to personal preference. However, there are some things you should take into consideration when investing in a snake tongs.
The Amy Eskue Memorial run opens this year at the Annual Okeene Rattle Snake Hunt. The race will begin at the Okeene Community Building at 8am on Saturday May 3rd. All participants are asked to arrive at 7:30am at the community building. The community building is located at 116 west E street in Okeene, Oklahoma. There will be a 5k fun run and a 1 mile fun walk. This race has been started this year in the remembrance of Amy Eskue.
Amy Eskue was dedicated to the spiritual growth of all those she came in contact with. She also desired for all people to live a happy healthy life style in Christ Jesus. She spent days, months, and years teaching that you could eat right and still enjoy food and life. She taught that exercise benefits your soul, body, and mind. Amy wanted to prove to her congregation and community that anyone could complete a 5k.
