I HAVE FOUGHT A GOOD FIGHT, I HAVE FINISHED MY COURSE, I HAVE KEPT THE FAITH.
The Amy Eskue Memorial run opens this year at the Annual Okeene Rattle Snake Hunt. The race will begin at the Okeene Community Building at 8am on Saturday May 3rd. All participants are asked to arrive at 7:30am at the community building. The community building is located at 116 west E street in Okeene, Oklahoma. There will be a 5k fun run and a 1 mile fun walk. This race has been started this year in the remembrance of Amy Eskue.
Amy Eskue was dedicated to the spiritual growth of all those she came in contact with. She also desired for all people to live a happy healthy life style in Christ Jesus. She spent days, months, and years teaching that you could eat right and still enjoy food and life. She taught that exercise benefits your soul, body, and mind. Amy wanted to prove to her congregation and community that anyone could complete a 5k.
Amy stood at the starting line of her first attempt at a 5k. She came in 3rd in her age group. What an accomplishment. One of Amy’s favorite scriptures was: Galatians 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Our goal is, by next year, to have our race sanctioned and be an official race. Come and join us, and finish the race. We will also have a float in the parade for the participants to ride on and walk by, after the 5k fun run and fun walk. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer you can call Shalla Terrell at 580-822-3158 and leave a message.

I first met Amy when I was newly married and living in Harrah. I met her Mom at a local cafe where we both worked, and it was there that I met Amy.I believe she was a freshman in high school. Without my knowing it, I had just met a wonderful family who for the next several years would be my closest friends. Amy and I raised our kids close together as babies. A couple of years went by and we drifted apart. Several years went by and one day my husband and I took our kids to the OKC zoo, and stopped by their house in Choctaw on the way home. I had just become a born-again Christian. As I went up to knock on the door, Amy and another lady were praying. Well, my kids and husband were in the car, it was late evening, so I only stayed a minute. But this was yet another series of important events in my life as I look back. On the way home I experienced EXTREME JOY as only the Lord can give. Amy and I shared the birth of our kids, and even being born-again very close together…I remember her telling me how she became saved, and how much she loved the Lord. “I just love Him,” she would say as we talked about our walk with the Lord. And now she is with the Lord. She ran the race of faith here on earth, and now she is running in complete freedom in heaven!
I close with these words from a song by Todd Agnew…Dedicated to a wonderful, caring woman of faith…Amy Lea Eskue~ May we all have the strength to run the race of faith until we see you again.~
Sing O son of Zion
Shout O child of mine
Rejoice with all your heart and soul and mind
For you are finally home
I’ve been waiting to dance with you
In fields full of colors you’ve never seen
I’ve been waiting to show you beauty
You never dreamed that’s always been in you
I’ve been waiting to see you tremble as you’re embraced
By a world saturated with my love
I’ve been waiting for the day when at last I get to say
My child you are finally home
Sing O son of Zion
Shout O child of mine
Rejoice with all your heart and soul and mind
For you are finally home
I’ve been waiting to watch you realize
What all your longing was for
I’ve been waiting to show you the thread of grace
That ran through all your pain
I’ve been waiting to let you drink the water of which
Your greatest joy on earth was just a taste
I’ve been waiting for the day when at last I get to say
My child you are finally home
Sing O son of Zion
Shout O child of mine
Rejoice with all your heart and soul and mind
Sing O daughter of Zion
Cry out O child of mine
Dance with all the strength that you can find
For you are finally home
Every tear you cried dried in the palm of my hand
Every lonely hour was by my side
Every loved one lost, every river crossed
Every moment, every hour was pointing to this day
Longing for this day…

I am Amy’s sister and wanted to thank everyone who put this together. It was really special. Amy was very proud of herself for accomplishing this run last year, as were all of us. She continues to touch us in so many ways. She was a wonderful Christian example. So genuine, loving and sweet. We were blessed to have her.
I will be there next year. Thanks again!
